THE office of the Managing Director of the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) , Duduzile Maseko, last Thursday held a meeting with the small and emerging contractors in Protea south community hall, Soweto. The MD’s office was represented by Busi Makhubo who was accompanied by Brian Dube from Finance and Procurement.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening the work relations between JRA and small contractors, and to address some of the challenges that both parties encountered. At least about 50 small contractors attended the meeting. They raised various issues, ranging from how to access JRA tenders, what benefits are there to be in the JRA company

ANSWERS: Busi Makhubo and Brian Dube answering questions
database, and how can they receive training from JRA to better equip their companies. Dube encouraged small contractors to form “ventures” when applying for the tenders. He said JRA was working hard to improve its systems to better help small contractors who want to get jobs from JRA. At the same breath Makhubo urged the contractors to do a thorough job when they are given jobs.
